Security Prevails at Hohoe Special Voting Centres, No Queues Reported.

Hohoe: The Special Voting centres in the Hohoe Constituency of the Volta Region have experienced a notable absence of queues, despite a strong security presence as voting commenced.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Cocoa Board Office Centre A has 414 expected voters registered, while Centre B has 413 expected voters. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Kofi Blagodzi, Volta North Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, who visited and cast his vote, stated that adequate security measures were implemented to ensure a peaceful voting process. He reassured electoral officers that patrol teams were on standby to address any security issues, although such incidents were not anticipated.

Miss Isabella Doga, a first-time special voter, described the voting process as smooth. A teacher from Gbi Godenu echoed this sentiment, noting that the current process was smoother compared to the 2020 exercise, though emphasized that it was still early in the election period and expressed hope for a similarly smooth
process on December 7.

Security personnel also praised the peaceful nature of the proceedings. By 1027 hours, 397 voters had successfully cast their votes. Mr. Newton Darkey, Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), commented on the excellent setup and superb security, expressing hope for a similar experience on December 7.

Mr. Anthony Kondobrey, Hohoe Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), observed that the conduct at the centres suggested peaceful elections ahead. He emphasized his Party’s commitment to peace and urged the NDC to adhere to electoral laws to ensure a smooth exercise. Voting, which started at 0700 hours, is scheduled to conclude at 1700 hours.
