Security Committee Implements Strategies to Curb Armed Robbery on Sunyani-Atronie Highway

Sunyani: Mr Vincent Antwi Agyei, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, announced that the Sunyani Municipal Security Committee (MUSEC) is adopting strategies to address armed robbery incidents on the Sunyani-Atronie highway. This announcement comes in the wake of a recent armed robbery on the highway, which occurred last Friday, June 13, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to several passengers.

According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by the Assembly and signed by Mr. Agyei extended condolences to the bereaved family and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery. In response to the incident, the Bono Regional Police Command, in collaboration with the Sunyani Divisional and Municipal Police Commands, has intensified security measures along the affected stretch and other vulnerable areas.

The statement highlighted that additional patrol vans and surveillance motorbikes have been deployed to ensure increased visibility and rapid response to potential threats. Residents are urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue. The statement reassured that proactive measures are being implemented to protect lives and property.

Additionally, it reaffirmed a commitment to the reconstruction of the Atronie-Sunyani Road, as emphasized by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama during his thank you tour in Sunyani. The administration is dedicated to ensuring that the road is repaired urgently.
