Regional amphitheatres are about 70% complete – Okraku-Mantey

Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey, has announced that the five amphitheatres promised by the government are currently about 70 percent complete.It could be recalled that in October 2022, then-tourism minister, Dr. Mohammed Awal stated that five amphitheatres would be constructed in 2022, with another five planned for 2023, aiming to provide performance venues in all 16 regions by 2024.However, two years after the announcement, stakeholders claim that the amphitheatres are yet to be constructed.During the Creative Arts forum organized by 3Entertainment on Friday, August 30, 2024, the deputy minister claimed that the amphitheatres are almost complete."The amphitheatres are about 70 percent done," he is reported by 3news.com to have said.The amphitheatres are part of President Akufo-Addo's 2020 manifesto for the creative arts sector.The first sod-cutting ceremony for these projects took place in April last year at the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in Kumasi.
