Queen-mother re-unites Dormaa-Suriname ‘Ansu ancestries’

Her Excellency Fidelia Graand-Galon, the Ambassador of Suriname to Ghana, has paid a historic visit to the Dormaa Traditional Area in the Bono Region.Nana Adwoa Taabea I, the newly enstooleed 'Gyaase Mankro Hemaa' (sub-queen) of the Traditional Area initiated the visit as part of her efforts to re-unite the ancestry between the 'Ansu Family' at Dormaa and 'Ansu Family' at Suriname.She together with the Ambassador and other accompanying queen mothers paid a courtesy call on Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II, the Paramount Chief of the Area at his Abanpredease Palace at Dormaa-Ahenkro.According to Nana Taabea I, the Ambassador's visit to the town formed part of her efforts to re-unite the lineage between the 'Ansu Families' in the Republic of Suriname and the Traditional Area.She said histories of the two families were interrelated, noting that the 'Ansu Family' in Dormaa Traditional Area shared common culture, belief systems and tradition with that of Surname.Nana Taabea I said the re-unificatio n of both families would birth a new dispensation of shared ideas that would strengthen family tides and deepen collaborations for mutual benefit.That would further lead to the creation of an entire community for the 'Ansu family' in Suriname on the Dormaa land, boost investments, and spur rapid socio-economic growth and development.Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Badu II described the visit as welcoming, and commended Nana Taabea I for her new traditional title, underscoring the need for her to remained committed in the process and achieve her vision for the re-unification.He promised to release portion of land to support her vision and for investment, exchange, and development projects between Dormaa and Suriname.They were accompanied by some queen mothers from different part of the country including Nana Adwoa Adofowa, the Nkwakwa Mamaso Hemaa, and Nana Ama Anobea Diabronna, Akuapem Adukrom Krontrihene Mawere Hemaa.Others were Nana Yeboah Awusiwaa, Gyaase Hemaa of Winneba, Nana Serwaa Brakatuo, a sub queen from Kwahu, and Chief Inspector Daniel Ofori-Appiah, a state prosecutor and founder of Watch your Tongue foundation Ghana, an NGO.Known in private life as Mrs Eunice Ayisha Godsent, Nana Taabea I, 54 years old and Senior Custom Officer of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), earlier went through customarily and traditional rites to seal her enstoolment at Pampaso, near Amasu in the Traditional Area.Also the Chief Executive Officer of the Feel of Heaven Herbal Mobile Clinic and Jesus Ark Foundation, an NGO and the Matron for Youth in Africa Ghana, another NGO, the chiefs, and people of the town carried her shoulder high and paraded her through the streets of the town amid traditional dancing and drumming.Source: Ghana News Agency
