‘Promoting Paralympic champion’s image can inspire potential future para-athletes’ ( US expert John Register)

Tunis: US Paralympic sports expert John Register has called for the need to work on promoting the image of the Tunisian Paralympic champion and to make him a source of inspiration for people with disabilities, considering that clinging to the dream is one of the keys to creating success stories.Speaking on Wednesday at a working session with President of the Tunisian National Paralympic Committee (CNPT) Mohamed Mezoughi, held to consider ways of sharing experiences and expertise in the development of paralympic sports in the run-up to the Los Angeles Paralympic Games in 2028, John Register explained that what distinguishes a champion from other sportsmen and women is their belief in themselves and their ability to overcome difficulties.'The para-athlete must persevere to achieve world, Olympic and Paralympic glory,' said the expert, assuring that a lack of support should not discourage the athlete, or even lead him or her to give up or end his or her career.During the session, which was attended by Tuni sian Paralympic champions Meher Bouallègue and Henia Aidi, as well as representatives of the US Embassy in Tunis, John Register commended the achievements of Tunisia's Paralympic champions, pointing out that the regular playing of the Tunisian national anthem since the Sydney Paralympic Games in 2000 and up to Tokyo 2020+1 testifies to the efforts exerted and the quality of the work accomplished.All athletes in the United States do not receive subsidies or support from the government, which indicates that their successes and figures are the result of their own struggle and personal investment, he underlined, adding that advertising and TV rights are the main and most important resource for his country's athletes and that success at international and world events goes a long way towards attracting sponsors and advertisers and increasing marketing value.Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
