President Mahama to Inaugurate Inter-Ministerial Committee for Green City Project

Beijing: President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to inaugurate an Inter-Ministerial Committee to oversee the design and feasibility study of Ghana's new Green City project. This initiative is part of the government's broader transformation agenda, aiming to establish a Green City across the Greater Accra, Volta, and Eastern Regions.

According to Ghana News Agency, President Mahama revealed these plans during the Presidential Business Forum in Beijing, China, as part of his state visit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. He emphasized the strategic importance of the Green City, which is envisioned as a green digital city showcasing advanced urban design, planning, and innovation.

The President outlined that the Green City project would span 20 years, to be executed in four phases. He expressed his intention for the first phase to begin before the end of his term. Furthermore, President Mahama highlighted the appointment of a transaction advisor to lead the project's implementation process.

President Mahama extended an invitation to Chinese partners to participate in this project, describing it as part of a broader vision for Ghana's future, characterized by a 24-hour economy, modern agricultural initiatives, digital empowerment for youth, and an industrial strategy that enhances value and prosperity.

He highlighted Ghana's stability and profitability as attractive prospects for Chinese investors, offering a strategic gateway to Africa. In exchange, he seeks partnerships that spur industrialization, facilitate technology transfer, and create shared value.

The President articulated a vision of a mutually beneficial relationship with Chinese investors, aiming for shared success through collaborative efforts to transform opportunities into achievements and ambitions into lasting prosperity.
