Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mr. Michael Harry Yamson as the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Yamson is expected to leverage his extensive experience in business, marketing, and governance in his new role. Currently, he is a Board Member at Unichem Ghana Group and has served as the Managing Partner at Ishmael Yamson and Associates since 2021.
Mr. Yamson is an alumnus of the University of Leeds and has a strong background in brand and channel development, innovation, and team leadership. Over nearly three decades, he has built a career as a seasoned management consultant and turnaround strategist, specializing in strategy, business transformation, and investment advisory.
His professional journey includes significant leadership roles across various sectors such as FMCG, telecommunications, agribusiness, and management consultancy. He began his career at Unilever Ghana, where he transformed the foods category into a market leader and enhanced distribution systems. In South Africa, he led the Africa Innovation Centre for Unilever and managed foods portfolios across Ghana and Francophone West Africa, successfully executing business turnarounds across 15 countries.
In the telecommunications sector, Mr. Yamson managed a pre-paid business worth one billion pounds across 14 African markets. As the General Manager for Gateway Broadcast Services Ghana, he introduced groundbreaking strategies that disrupted a 20-year monopoly.
At Ishmael Yamson and Associates, he has worked closely with Dr. Ishmael Evens Yamson, a distinguished leader with numerous advisory roles globally. Together, they have led impactful strategy and investment advisory projects for major organizations like Tema Oil Refinery, Coca-Cola, and AngloGold Ashanti, fostering sustainable transformation within both public and private sectors.
