Accra: President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, have sponsored the construction of 10 legacy temples for the Assemblies of God, Ghana, where they both belong. Each temple is equipped with a fully furnished, two-bedroom house for the pastor, an office, musical equipment, and 150 chairs.
According to Ghana News Agency, the donations fulfill a vow President Mahama and Mrs. Mahama made to the 2024 General Council meeting of Assemblies of God, Ghana, held in Navrongo. In addition to the new constructions, the First Couple have refurbished an eleventh temple for the Bole Assembly of God located in President Mahama's hometown.
The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Reverend Stephen Wengam, expressed gratitude to the President and his wife for fulfilling their pre-election promises. Reverend Wengam highlighted that the Legacy Temple Project is an appeal for support from individuals, families, institutions, agencies, business entities, churches, and their departments to sponsor the construction of temples for newly planted churches, especially those in rural areas or for churches that lack the means to build their own places of worship.
Reverend Wengam also called for additional support to enable the church to establish its presence and spread the gospel in every village, town, and city in Ghana.
