Accra: President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Herbert Krapa as the substantive Minister of Energy, effective November 19, 2024. Krapa has been serving as the Minister of State at the Ministry of Energy since July 15.According to Ghana News Agency, the appointment was announced in a statement from the Communications Directorate, Office of the President. The statement highlighted that Krapa's appointment is a recognition of his hard work and leadership qualities. It expressed the President's confidence in Krapa's ability to continue distinguishing himself in his new role, ensuring the ongoing growth and transformation of the energy sector for the nation's benefit.Before assuming his new role, Krapa managed the day-to-day operations of the Ministry. This was while Abu Jinapor, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, provided Cabinet oversight for the sector. This arrangement followed the resignation of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as Energy Minister on July 18, after being nominated as the New Pat riotic Party's Vice Presidential Candidate for the upcoming December 7 elections.President Akufo-Addo acknowledged Krapa's exceptional diligence, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to his duties, which have significantly contributed to Ghana's energy sector's progress and stability.
