Presbyterian Church of Ghana Establishes Award Scheme for Teachers

Atebubu: The Presbyterian Church of Ghana has announced the creation of an award scheme aimed at recognizing the efforts of teachers in Presbyterian schools. Reverend Seth Duodu Abedi, the Director of Education for the Sekyere Presbytery of the Church, stated that the scheme is set to become operational in 2026. He encouraged teachers to enhance their efforts to boost the academic performance of their students.

According to Ghana News Agency, Rev. Abedi, who also serves as the Juaben District Minister of the Church, made this announcement during a visit to the Presbyterian Basic Schools located in Atebubu, within the Bono East Region. During his visit, he toured several educational institutions, including Atebubu Presby Primary 'A', Atebubu Presby Primary 'B', Atebubu Presby JHS 'A', Atebubu Presby JHS 'B', and Atebubu Presby Kindergarten.

Rev. Abedi urged the Presbyterian teachers to pursue further professional development and strive for higher aspirations within their careers to further enhance the academic achievements of their students. He expressed satisfaction with the schools' performance in the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination and encouraged continued progress.

Mr. Eric Koranteng, the Atebubu District Director of Education for the Presbyterian Church, echoed these sentiments, urging the teachers to continue their dedication despite facing various challenges. Additionally, Rev. Wiredu Darkwa, the Atebubu District Local Manager for the Presbyterian Schools, noted that the visit had been a source of motivation for the teachers.

Some school heads highlighted several issues, including insufficient classroom space and inadequate security, and urged the church to address these challenges.
