Post Marital Counselling Advocated for Successful Christian Marriages – Rev Nyamekye

Kumasi: The Reverend Alfred Nyamekye, Senior Pastor of the House of Faith Ministries in Kumasi, has recommended the implementation of post marital counselling as a strategy to sustain Christian marriages. He emphasized that the rush often associated with premarital counselling impedes a deep understanding of marriage tenets, contributing to high divorce rates.

According to Ghana News Agency, Rev Nyamekye made these remarks during the launch of the 25th Anniversary of the Fruitful Ministries International Incorporated, Northern Zone, in Kumasi. The group, founded by Reverend Dr. Samuel Kisseadoo, is a non-denominational organization aimed at ensuring the success of marriages and building strong family relationships to support a formidable church community.

Rev Nyamekye noted that after marriage, the true characters of couples tend to emerge, as many pretend to be something they are not before marriage. To address this, he suggested that couples should commit their lives to Christ Jesus, which he believes would provide them with a renewed understanding of marriage and family life, as God is the origin of these institutions.

The Senior Pastor advocated for monthly post marital counselling for every Christian couple and encouraged them to seek support from organizations like Fruitful Ministries to address their marital challenges. He highlighted that marriage experts often describe the first seven years as the adjustment period, noting that marriages sometimes end after decades due to unresolved issues from this early period.

Professor Joseph Lamptey, Patron of the Ministry, recounted the history of the organization, stating that it was established in 2001 and has made a significant impact across Ghana. Reverend Christian Danso, Country Director of Fruitful Ministries International Incorporated, announced that the anniversary, which saw its Southern Zone launched in February, will culminate in August 2025. Planned activities include a national delegates’ conference, health screenings, street evangelism, and donations to orphanages.

Beneficiaries such as Dr. Salma Sando and Evangelist Mrs. Patience Wilberforce shared testimonies on how the Ministry has transformed their lives, underscoring the organization’s positive influence on individuals and families.
