Akwatia: The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian TettehYohuno, along with the Police Management Board (POMAB), has initiated strategic discussions with stakeholders ahead of the Akwatia By-Election to ensure peace, law, and order throughout the process. This proactive engagement aims to address security concerns and foster a transparent electoral environment.

According to Ghana News Agency, the meeting, which took place on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, served as a crucial platform for the Ghana Police Service to present its security strategy for the upcoming polls and gather feedback from various political parties involved in the election. The political party representatives expressed their appreciation for the engagement and emphasized the importance of fairness and transparency in security deployment to build trust in the electoral process.

Earlier, on August 12, the IGP and his team engaged with the Electoral Commission (EC) to discuss a comprehensive roadmap for the by-election. The discussions were centered on ensuring effective coordination between the Police and the EC to facilitate seamless operations before, during, and after the polls. During this meeting, the EC also presented its operational plan for conducting the election.

In addition, on August 13, the Police engaged the Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG) at the National Police Headquarters. IDEG expressed concerns about electoral security, transparency, and the need for stakeholder collaboration to maintain public confidence. The Ghana Police Service reassured its commitment to ongoing stakeholder engagement and the finalization of operational preparations to uphold peace, law, and order throughout the electoral process.
