Krachi East: The Krachi East Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Mohammed Tanko, has praised the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Krachi East Municipal for their efforts in promoting peaceful elections in the upcoming 2024 general elections. Speaking at a peace lecture organised by the EP Church in Dambai, Supt Tanko commended the NCCE for their educational roles in ensuring peace before, during, and after the elections. He emphasized that a peaceful atmosphere was crucial for fair, credible, and transparent elections, allowing citizens to make informed decisions without fear.According to Ghana News Agency, the NCCE Municipal Director, Mr. Clement Kwasi Mamadu, who was the main speaker at the event, stressed that peace was not just the absence of conflict but also involved justice, harmony, and equality. He highlighted the importance of dialogue, addressing grievances, promoting inclusivity, and strengthening community resilience in peace building, particularly in Ghana. Mr. Mama du identified various stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission, security agencies, media, judiciary, political parties, and citizens as crucial in ensuring peaceful and fair elections. He cautioned political parties to campaign without violence and urged citizens to reject any party that does not promote peace.Additionally, the District pastor of the E.P Church-Dambai, Reverend Phanuel Kwaku Drah, emphasized that peace was the foundation of democracy, allowing for transparent processes, fair voting, and respect for the rule of law. He entreated the EC to deliver its duty transparently and fairly and appealed to citizens to approach the election season with humility, seeking healing and reconciliation.
