Akatsi South: Mr. Patrick Escu Xormenyor Agboyibor, the former Volta Regional Welfare Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, has supported Shell Tobacco Block electoral area in the Akatsi South Municipality with working tools to foster environmental cleanliness in the area. The donation includes two spades, a pickaxe, two wellington boots, and an undisclosed amount of money to aid in the efforts to maintain a clean and conducive environment.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Agboyibor, who was also the former Akatsi South Municipal Director of the Youth Employment Agency, stated in an interview that the initiative aims to promote community development and environmental cleanliness. He emphasized the importance of improving the lives of residents in the area and noted that the initiative is expected to positively impact the community.
Mr. Agboyibor explained that the support empowers the electoral area to organize communal labor and urged youths and communities to engage and collaborate in keeping the environment clean to help eradicate communicable diseases. He highlighted the use of the donated items to motivate the community to participate in communal labor activities such as clearing bushes, digging holes for proper rubbish disposal, and creating ways for stagnant waters to prevent mosquito breeding grounds.
Expressing his intention to contest in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) Akatsi South constituency chairmanship position, Mr. Agboyibor called on other benevolent donors to support environmental protection initiatives.
Mr. Wonder Gatepe, the Assembly Member of Shell Tobacco electoral area, received the donations on behalf of the communities and expressed gratitude for the support, noting that it would enhance communal labor efforts. He mentioned additional support from companies such as Divinelinks Technology, Defender Scrap Ventures, Agbesco Ventures, His Majesty Haircut, Area Fast Food, Future Builders Foundation, and others.
Mr. Gatepe also appealed to the public for further donations and urged the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Mr. Daniel Dagba, organizations, and philanthropists to contribute streetlights to improve security. He affirmed the community's commitment to improving the environment and security and emphasized reliance on public and stakeholder support to achieve these goals.
Ghana News Agency observed some local youths actively engaging in clearing bushes and maintaining cleanliness in the Akatsi Demonstration area.
