Pastor Urges Christian Couples to Follow Marriage Laws

Sunyani: Pastor David Asumani Obeng, the Out-going Bono Regional Overseer of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM), has urged young adults and potential Christian couples to strictly adhere to the procedures and laws governing Christian marriage before tying the knot.

According to Ghana News Agency, Pastor Obeng emphasized that the established procedures of the Church and Christianity for marriage align with the laws governing the marital institution in the country. He stated that disregarding these procedures constitutes a breach of national marital laws. Pastor Obeng remarked, "We have laws governing the marriage institution in this country," highlighting the importance of adherence to these laws.

He reminded the congregation that Christian marriage aligns with the nation's Marriage Ordinance, which mandates 'one husband, one wife.' He encouraged potential couples to follow the required procedures outlined in the law until they reach the altar. Pastor Obeng provided this advice during a church meeting to introduce Pastor Samuel Abgenyafia, the newly appointed Coordinating Regional Overseer for the middle belt of the church, to its pastors and workers.

The meeting was attended by various Divisional, Group, District, and Location Pastors, as well as church workers from regions including Abesim, Yamfo, Techire, Ohene-Djan, Chiraa, Kuotokrom, Odomase, Nsoatre, Wawasua, Atronie, Agozo, Area Four, Newtown, and Ridge groups in the Sunyani Municipality.

Pastor Obeng pointed out that the Ordinance Marriage in Ghana requires potential couples to obtain a registration certificate after 21 days of notice placement and urged them to follow these procedures to avoid any legal issues.

In his sermon, Pastor Agbenyafia encouraged the church's leaders, pastors, and workers to remain committed to building their spiritual and godly lives. He stated, "God expects pastors, leaders, and workers of the vineyard to shine, and with those shining lives, we would be able to impact the church, our homes, and thereby bring transformation in the lives of people and society."

Pastor Agbenyafia further urged them to strive for holiness and righteousness, encouraging them to study and adhere to the doctrines of the Bible, enhance themselves academically, and avoid leading mediocre lives.
