Accra: Parliament's Appointment Committee, chaired by First Deputy Speaker Mr. Bernard Ahiafor, is scheduled to vet President John Dramani Mahama's deputy ministerial nominees from Monday, February 24, to Thursday, February 27, 2025. This series of vetting sessions will follow the initial round held in January 2025, during which several sectorial ministers and regional ministerial nominees were scrutinized.According to Ghana News Agency, a statement from the Media Relations of Parliament stated that the upcoming sessions will focus on the remaining nominees. These individuals have been selected by President Mahama to enhance his administration's governance and policy implementation. The vetting process is mandated by the constitution to ensure that nominees are qualified, competent, and suitable for public office.The Committee will evaluate the nominees' expertise, experience, and vision for their respective ministries. Key areas of focus during the vetting are expected to include their plans for addressi ng pressing national issues. The vetting process is expected to be thorough, ensuring that the nominees are equipped to handle the demands of their roles.On the first day of vetting, the Committee is scheduled to vet four nominees: Mr. Yussif Issaka Jajah, Deputy Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts; Madam Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Deputy Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs; Madam Gizella Akushika Tetteh-Agbotui, Deputy Minister-designate for Housing and Water Resources; and Mr. Ernest Brogya Genfi, Deputy Minister-designate for Defence.
