Parliamentary Candidates Face-off in Assin South Constituency.

Assin South: The Assin South Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) organized a debate for Parliamentary Candidates (PC) in the constituency to present their developmental plans, policies, and vision for the area. However, the debate saw the participation of only Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the incumbent Member of Parliament and the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Kofi Baidoo, the Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Mr Joseph Kofi Damtse, an independent candidate, did not attend the event. The debate was intended to provide the three candidates an opportunity to discuss developmental issues and outline their visions and plans for the constituency.Rev Ntim Fordjour used the platform to detail his achievements and future plans for Assin South, focusing on improving healthcare, education, job creation, and infrastructure. In an interview, Mr George Briku, District Director of NCCE, noted that the debat e was designed to give candidates the chance to explain their plans and address issues of concern to the constituents.Briku mentioned that invitations were sent to all candidates well in advance, but only Rev Ntim Fordjour participated. He further emphasized the constitutional mandate, highlighting that political candidates must communicate their intentions and plans to the electorate, who are the ultimate holders of power in the democratic process.He urged the audience to maintain peace before and after the elections, stressing the importance of a peaceful electoral process for the development of both the constituency and the nation. The event was attended by Ms Felicia Ntrakwah Amissah, District Chief Executive, along with departmental heads, high-ranking NPP members, and supporters.
