Outboard Motor Boats Revolutionizing Fishing at Gomoa Fetteh

General

Gomoa Fetteh: Fishermen in the Central Region town of Gomoa Fetteh are witnessing a transformation in their trade, thanks to the introduction of outboard motor boats. These propulsion systems, which include an engine, gearbox, and propeller or jet drive, have become integral to modern fishing practices, replacing the labor-intensive methods of the past.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Dadzie Agyeman, a local fisherman, emphasized the impact of these motors during a recent media interaction following the screening of a documentary. He noted that outboard motors have become essential tools in the 21st century, bringing efficiency and reducing the physical demands traditionally associated with fishing. Agyeman predicted that these innovations would soon dominate the fishing industry, leaving behind the old paddling methods which were not only challenging but also dangerous, often resulting in the loss of lives.

Nana Abor Atta II, the Chief of Gomoa Fetteh and Twafohen of the Gomoa Asin Traditional Council, praised the Leoparshma Foundation for producing the documentary. He encouraged Mr. Leon Daniel Agyeman, the foundation's CEO, to continue his work, highlighting the global attention the film has brought to Gomoa Fetteh. Atta II described the project as more than just a documentary, seeing it as a gift that could open doors for future opportunities and growth.

The documentary has also strengthened international ties, as evidenced by Aleksander Miljkovic from Serbia, who expressed gratitude to Agyeman and the people of Gomoa Fetteh via Zoom. Miljkovic hinted at future collaborative projects, reinforcing the bonds of friendship and cooperation. In honor of Miljkovic's support, Agyeman initiated the Miljkovic Tournament, a football event celebrating their enduring relationship.
