Kumasi: The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, in collaboration with Adwinsa Publications Ghana Limited, has donated 2,500 reading books to schools in Kumasi. This initiative aims to support the promotion of reading among schoolchildren.
According to Ghana News Agency, this contribution was part of the activities celebrating the International Day of Education, themed 'Preserving Human Agency in a world of automation and AI Education.' Nana Professor Oheneba Boakye Agyei Woahene II, Board Chair of the Foundation, emphasized the need to preserve the uniqueness of human agencies during the ceremony. He highlighted the importance of education that goes beyond technical skills and mentioned the Foundation's proactive efforts, such as the Otumfuo Mobile Learning project, which focuses on literacy education.
The Board Chair reiterated the Foundation's commitment to ensuring quality and accessible education for all by 2030. Mr. Kwaku Amponsah, CEO of Adwinsa Publications, spoke about the transformative power of reading and education, encouraging children to seize the opportunities provided by the government and stakeholders to advance their education and contribute positively to nation-building.
Mr. Thomas Kwame Boateng, Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of Education, remarked on the essential role of education in human development and its ability to help society adapt to change. He stressed that technology should serve humanity, urging the preparation of the current generation to use technology for human benefit.
