Ohuewem Clan Celebrates Coronation of Asafoatsengua Sackey Keteni VI

Ada: The Ohuewem Clan, a notable lineage within the Ada Traditional Area, has officially celebrated the enstoolment of Mr. Doetse Tetteh-Yumu as their new Asafoatsengua, who will be known as Asafoatsengua Sackey Keteni VI.

According to Ghana News Agency, the vibrant coronation durbar took place at the Ada Community Centre and marked the formal presentation of the new Asafoatsengua to the Ada Traditional Council, following his installation on May 23, 2025. The event attracted traditional leaders, clan elders, youth groups, and residents from Ada and surrounding areas.

The ceremony was rich with Ga-Dangme cultural traditions, featuring drumming, singing, and traditional dances. Asafoatsengua Sackey Keteni VI was introduced and ritually endorsed by his stool father, Setsengua Emmanuel Tetteh-Yumu, who explained the thorough selection process after the passing of the previous Asafoatsengua Keteni V.

Stool father Emmanuel Tetteh-Yumu noted that after extensive consultations, the clan unanimously agreed on Mr. Tetteh-Yumu as the heir. He referenced an ancestor, Nene Teikumatse, who believed leadership would emerge when the time was right, and the clan sees Sackey Keteni VI as that leader.

In his first address, Asafoatsengua Sackey Keteni VI expressed gratitude to the Ohuewem Clan and Ada Traditional leadership for their trust. He emphasized the honor of leading the clan and acknowledged his late uncle, Mr. Dotser Fugar, whose guidance was crucial in the clan's leadership history.

Asafoatsengua Buertey Okumko Obuapong IV, from the Adibiawe Clan and representing the Ada Traditional Council, confirmed the Council's recognition of Sackey Keteni VI and urged the people of Ada to support and respect their new leader.

Nene Tetteh Asigbey, Chief of Asigbekorpe, praised the new leader's humility and respectfulness, expressing confidence in his ability to provide progressive leadership to the Ohuewem Clan.

The event concluded with the pouring of libation, traditional performances, and messages of goodwill from various elders and dignitaries.
