Odomase: Mr. Yaw Dabie Appiah Mensah, a senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region, has called on various presidential aspirants to support former Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia in leading the NPP to victory in the 2028 elections.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Mensah emphasized the need for unity within the party to regain political power in 2028. He expressed his views during an interview in Odomase, Sunyani West constituency, highlighting the importance of supporting Bawumia for the party's success.The NPP has announced its presidential primaries for January 31, 2026, following a National Executive Committee meeting on June 17. The early scheduling aims to provide ample time for the party to prepare for the 2028 General Election. Mr. Mensah praised this decision, noting that it would allow the party to effectively market its flagbearer and address any challenges that may arise during the primaries.Mr. Mensah argued that Alhaji Dr. Bawumia, who was the NPP's flagbear er in the 2024 general election, would strengthen the party's political fortunes and enhance its chances of recapturing power. He acknowledged the qualities of other presidential aspirants but maintained that Bawumia remains the party's best option. He noted that many voters regretted not supporting Bawumia in the last election.Mr. Mensah attributed the party's defeat in 2024 to voter apathy rather than Bawumia's leadership. He urged the NPP to address internal differences and focus on overcoming the challenges that led to their previous defeat. By building consensus and prioritizing the party's interests, Mr. Mensah believes the NPP can achieve total victory in 2028.
