Kpando: Mr Killian Donkor, newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kpando, announced plans to engage stakeholders within the Municipality to develop localised plans aimed at driving economic growth. The initiative will focus on the manifesto of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and will emphasize job creation and infrastructure improvement over the next 60 days.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Donkor, during his confirmation address, pledged to ensure equitable resource distribution and to expand access to essential services such as water, healthcare, and education. He expressed his commitment to being a servant leader, emphasizing transparency and accountability in his administration.
Mr Donkor highlighted his understanding of the challenges faced by various groups, including market women, children, the elderly, the physically challenged, and security agencies. He also stated his intention to collaborate with the Member of Parliament to tackle issues such as youth unemployment, road infrastructure, and the development of the Kpando Torkor road and the Torkor landing beach and harbour.
In the confirmation vote, Mr Donkor received 19 'Yes' votes, accounting for 68% of the total, while nine votes were against his appointment. Mr Sebastian Deh, the Kpando Constituency Member of Parliament, expressed his willingness to work with Mr Donkor to further the development of the Municipality.
Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, emphasized the importance of collaboration among Assemblies and stakeholders, particularly traditional rulers, to accelerate development. He described the endorsement of Mr Donkor as a step toward progress and reiterated the need for a national reset starting with local Assemblies.
Additionally, nine government appointees were sworn in as members of the General Assembly of the Municipality.
