NPP Government Invests More in TVET Than Any Previous Administration, Says Prof. Nyarko.

Kumasi: The NPP government, under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's leadership, has invested more resources into Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) than any previous regime, according to Professor Kingsley Nyarko, Deputy Minister of Education in charge of TVET.According to Ghana News Agency, the investments include the provision of state-of-the-art laboratories and the retooling of existing labs and workshops, significantly enhancing the infrastructure in TVET schools. Prof. Nyarko, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, highlighted these developments during a working visit to the Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED). The visit aimed to assess the university's current status, progress, challenges, and potential solutions for improvement.The Deputy Minister emphasized that since 2017, the government has allocated more than GH?6 billion to the TVET sector, underscoring the administration's commitment to prio ritizing education as a vital component of national development. "We have built ultramodern workshops, laboratories, and state-of-the-art facilities in various TVET institutions across the nation," he stated. Prof. Nyarko asserted that no government since independence has matched the investment in TVET made by President Akufo-Addo's administration.During his visit, Prof. Nyarko inspected both existing and new laboratories at the university, praising the government for its substantial investment in TVET. He urged Ghanaians to support the NPP in the upcoming December 7 elections to continue its efforts toward national development.Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, Vice Chancellor of AAMUSTED, commented on the transformative path TVET is taking to bridge the gap between skills acquisition and academics. He noted that the investment has equipped the university with modern equipment, laboratories, and essential resources, leading to improved learning outcomes. Prof. Sarfo stressed the importance of empowering Ghanai an youth with practical skills to create employment opportunities, thereby reducing the dependency on government jobs. He commended the government for its investment in TVET institutions and emphasized that TVET and entrepreneurial skills are crucial for positioning Ghana to compete with developed nations.
