New Western Regional Minister Urges Collaboration Among Staff and Security Chiefs

Sekondi: Mr Joseph Nelson, the newly appointed Western Regional Minister, has encouraged staff at the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) and security chiefs to work hard for the good and welfare of the people.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Nelson indicated that he would operate an open-door policy, emphasizing the need for all stakeholders to collaborate and work together to bring the needed development to the Region. Mr Nelson expressed these sentiments during his first meeting with the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), Heads of Department, and staff of the WRCC at Sekondi.

Mr Nelson thanked the staff for their support and believed that the goal of public service would be achieved through collaboration and hard work. He articulated a vision for the future, stating, "The journey is long but, certainly it begins from today. I want to urge all of us to begin on a very good note, and happily holding our hands together, and I believe we will be able to achieve a lot for our people."

Commodore Emmanuel A. Kwafo, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command and Commander of the Two Garrison, congratulated Mr Nelson on assuming office and pledged REGSEC's commitment to support him in achieving the development goals for the Region. Commodore Kwafo assured, "We want to assure you of our ever-present support as REGSEC members. If there are issues happening, anytime, anywhere, we are ready to respond, so we wish you well and we know that with the renewed energy, and together with the collaboration of the other heads, victory will be ours."

Mr Stephen Quarshie, the Acting Regional Coordinating Director, highlighted that the meeting aimed to build bridges and reinforce teamwork to spur growth in the region. Mr Kirk Koufie, the Western Regional Director, Controller and Accountant General Department (CAGD), speaking on behalf of other heads of departments, expressed their dedication and support to assist the new Minister in accomplishing his vision. He urged the Minister to carefully study the Local Government and Governance Acts of 2003 and 2016 and the Public Financial Management Act of 2016 to win the trust of the service men and women.
