A group of constituency women organizers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has petitioned the party's Functional Executive Committee (FEC) over the misconduct of its Greater Accra Regional Chairman. The petition, signed by over forty women organisers in the Greater Accra Region, accused the Regional Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, of exhibiting 'male aggression' and 'threatening assault' against leading women of the Party. In the petition delivered to FEC on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, the Group said the issue could destabilise and undermine the Party's efficiency in the region if urgent action was not taken. They cited one instance during the NDC's 2022 National Congress, where they alleged, that Mr Moore verbally abused the Party's Deputy Greater Accra Regional Secretary, Patricia Akuyea Addy, following disagreements over accreditation cards. The Group alleged that Mr Moore repeated 'similar abusive behaviour' at the party headquarters during the submission of the NDC Flagbearer's nomination forms, targeting Deputy National Communication Director Madam Obuobia Darko Opoku. The petitioners said the Greater Accra Region was strategically important to the NDC and appealed to FEC to intervene immediately to ensure that the women's wing operated confidently and effectively in their efforts to secure victory for the Party.'What we are all yearning for is to win the 2024 election and if the conduct of one single individual will thwart our efforts, he must be shoved aside. We want to win the 2024 elections for John Mahama and the NDC Party. The Regional Chairman must be called to order so that Greater Accra can deliver a resounding success,' the group called on FEC.Mr Ashie has declined to comment on the issue.Source: Ghana News Agency
