Juaben: Madam Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Juaben Constituency in the Ashanti Region, is determined to make history by wrestling the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Gender-desk, Madam Ansu, who is contesting for the first time, said the NPP's dominance in the constituency had not impacted on the development of the area and therefore needed a change.According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Ansu believes that the notion that the Juaben seat belonged to the NPP has led to neglect of the constituency's needs. She argues that the NPP has relied on this advantage to win elections without bringing meaningful development, urging voters to change their voting patterns. Expressing confidence in breaking the political stronghold, she appealed to the constituents to support her in the upcoming December 7 elections, promising progressive development and a new leadership approach to transform their lives. As part of her vision for the constituency, Madam Ansu highlighted the potential of the Juaben enclave, emphasizing its vast hectares of land suitable for attracting investors to establish industries and create job opportunities for the youth. Aligning with the NDC's manifesto, she also promised to implement an apprenticeship program aimed at equipping the youth, who might not have further education opportunities, with employable skills to boost the local economy.Madam Ansu brings to her candidacy a wealth of experience from her 18-year career in banking, where she rose to the position of a corporate relationship manager at the National Investment Bank. She holds a master's degree in marketing from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and has resigned from her banking career to focus on politics. Her deep-rooted connection to the community, combined with her professional experience, positions her as a promising candidate. Her political journey began at the grassroots level , serving as a polling station executive and later as a women's organizer for the NDC at the constituency level. The Juaben constituency, created out of the Ejisu-Juaben constituency in 2012, has been a stronghold for the NPP, consistently maintaining its support in both presidential and parliamentary elections.
