Nkrankwanta: The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has called on political parties to remain moderate in their celebrations following the results of Election 2024. This appeal was made by Madam Cynthia Anima Boadu, the Bono Regional Director of the Commission, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the nation's current peace.According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Boadu highlighted the emotional and psychological impact on those who lose elections, urging that victory celebrations should not be used as a means of mockery. Such actions could provoke opponents and potentially lead to political unrest. Her remarks were made during a meeting on the European Union-funded 'Preventing and Containing Violent Extremism (PCVE)' programme, which is being implemented by the NCCE in Nkrankwanta, Dormaa West District of the Bono Region. The event was attended by political activists, religious groups, and youth organizations.Madam Boadu cautioned that teasing and mockery could escalate tensions among losin g parties, potentially inciting political violence and disturbing national peace post-election. She advised voters to prioritize their safety during the elections and urged the youth to resist the temptation of accepting money for engaging in political violence.She noted the prevalence of violent extremism in the sub-region, stressing the necessity for Ghanaians to defend the nation's democratic values. She further advised political parties to engage respectfully during the election period to ensure peace and stability.Additionally, Madam Boadu educated participants on the voting process, encouraging them to vote correctly to reduce the number of spoiled and rejected ballots. Pastor Daniel Wife, the District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost, also addressed the gathering, urging people to respect differing opinions and promote harmony regardless of political, tribal, or religious differences.
