Bongo: The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has conducted a parliamentary dialogue aimed at the 2024 election candidates in the Bongo constituency. This initiative sought to offer a platform for candidates to convey their visions to constituents, helping voters make informed decisions and hold candidates accountable for their policies in the upcoming December polls.According to Ghana News Agency, the dialogue was organized in partnership with the Rural Initiatives for Self-Empowerment-Ghana (RISE-Ghana), a civil society organization. It included representatives from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), the only political parties with parliamentary candidates in this year's elections. Although the candidates themselves were absent, their policies were communicated through their representatives.Mr. Edward Asekere, the Bongo NDC constituency communications officer, represented Mr. Charles Bawadua, the NDC candidate, while Mr. Wilson Aleb sina Anangine, Campaign Coordinator for Madam Diana Aburiya, the NPP parliamentary candidate, spoke on her behalf. Both representatives emphasized prioritizing education, healthcare, roads infrastructure, agriculture, and youth employment if elected in the December elections. The electorate expressed disappointment over the absence of the candidates at the dialogue. Ms. Alice Ndego, the Bongo District Director of the Commission, stated that the NCCE had conducted research on voter concerns, which formed the foundation for the Commission's Parliamentary Candidates Dialogue across all electoral constituencies in the country.Ms. Ndego highlighted that the dialogue served as an opportunity for candidates to share their visions and engage with constituents on national issues. She underscored the responsibility of those seeking public office, the power of democracy, and the promise of better governance. The dialogue was described as a platform for open engagement, deep listening, and reflection on community and national issues, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service.
