Nzema East: The Nzema East Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) organized a debate for Parliamentary candidates in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency, providing a platform for candidates to present their plans and policies to the electorate. The event aimed to highlight development issues in the constituency and discuss potential solutions as candidates vie for election to parliament.According to Ghana News Agency, the debate saw participation from Prophet Elisha Joshua Kabenla of the New Force Party, who proposed initiatives such as establishing a nursing training school and a bank to support youth entrepreneurship. He also promised to address the poor road conditions in Axim and the Brawire/Akyernim communities. Prophet Kabenla expressed confidence in his party's success in the upcoming December elections and urged voters to support his candidacy. The debate, however, witnessed the absence of two major candidates: Mr. Kofi NoKoe, the incumbent Member of Parliament from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Mrs. Catherine Abelema Afeku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Their non-participation drew concern from Mr. Bernard Azonawane, District Director of NCCE, who emphasized the importance of such forums in allowing the electorate to make informed choices based on candidates' visions and policies.Mr. Azonawane reiterated the NCCE's role in promoting democratic governance and urged political parties to refrain from using money to influence voters. He also called on the media and political figures to avoid spreading misinformation, which could lead to unrest during the election period. He stressed the importance of maintaining respectful discourse in political debates and campaigns, urging politicians to avoid provocative language.Deputy Regional Director of NCCE, Mr. Lan Kwame Tugbenu, encouraged voters to participate actively in the December 7 elections while advising against excessive celebrations following the announcement of election results. He highlighted the colle ctive responsibility in building a prosperous and peaceful Ghana, urging citizens to actively contribute to their communities' development.
