NCCE Congratulates President Mahama on Re-election

Accra: The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has extended its congratulations to President John Dramani Mahama on his recent re-election as President of Ghana. The Commission also applauded Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang for her historic achievement of becoming the first female Vice President of the Republic of Ghana.

According to Ghana News Agency, a release signed by Ms. Katherine Addy, Chairperson of the NCCE, highlighted the Commission's belief that Professor Opoku Agyemang's accomplishments would serve as an inspiration to Ghanaian women and future generations. The NCCE emphasized that peaceful coexistence and national cohesion are essential for effective governance and national development, praising the democratic processes of the elections held on December 7, 2024.

The NCCE commended the citizens of Ghana for their active participation in the electoral process, which adhered largely to democratic principles, illustrating the strength of the country's democratic institutions. The Commission also recognized the contributions of various stakeholders in the electoral process.

The statement underscored the importance of post-election governance in transforming democratic achievements into national development that benefits all citizens. The NCCE called on Ghanaians to engage in constructive dialogue and collaboration, transcending political, ethnic, or religious differences, to ensure that Ghana continues to stand as a symbol of democracy in Africa.

The Commission reminded citizens that democracy extends beyond the act of voting and requires ongoing commitment to fostering peace, tolerance, the rule of law, and respect for diversity. It urged Ghanaians to cultivate a culture of dialogue, understanding, and reconciliation, particularly in the post-election period, emphasizing unity as a national strength.
