Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey has accused some members of the music industry including Gospel musician Nacee of opposing the government's plan to establish an ultra-modern recording studio for artistes. This initiative promised in the 2020 manifesto of the NPP, aimed to provide musicians with a facility where they could record music and other projects at reduced and affordable fees. However, speaking at the 3Entertainment Creative Arts forum on August 30, 2024, Okraku-Mantey explained that the proposal faced significant resistance within the industry."The industry fought against it. Some were for it, some were against but the against were higher.'The industry rejected and said we should share the money amongst them that they already have studios which were doing well,' he claimed. He further stated that Nacee initially supported the idea but later changed his stance.'You can quote me anywhere. Nacee, a few weeks ago was on Hitz FM, he went to Peace FM again and wa s asked and he said at the time, he supported but he feels that now, we don't need it,' he said.Despite the setback, Okraku Mantey indicated that the government remains open to revisiting the project if there is renewed interest from the industry.Source: Ghana Web
