Berekum: Elder Simon Ampaabeng Kyeremeh, the Member of Parliament for the Berekum East in the Bono Region, has appealed for support towards the establishment of a cancer treatment centre in the constituency.

According to Ghana News Agency, the MP stated that he is collaborating with the Berekum Holy Family Hospital for the creation of the centre. A structure has already been acquired and is currently undergoing renovation to serve this purpose.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Berekum, Elder Kyeremeh called on philanthropists, corporate and religious bodies, as well as affluent citizens of Berekum, both at home and abroad, to lend their support. He stressed the urgency of the situation, noting that cancer is rapidly claiming lives in the country, underscoring the necessity of the centre to facilitate early detection and management of cases.

Elder Kyeremeh highlighted the importance of early detection in treating cancer and related illnesses. He pointed out that the absence of a dedicated treatment centre contributes to the increasing number of cases. He noted the need for machines and equipment to screen suspected cases for confirmation and management, which would be a critical component of the proposed centre.
