Martin Kordzi Footbridge Nears Collapse, Posing Risk to Residents

Kadjebi: A wooden footbridge on the Dubonku Stream at Martin Kordzi, a suburb of Kadjebi, is nearing collapse, posing a danger to the lives of residents in the area. A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the site, following complaints from residents, revealed the danger posed to the lives of residents.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Franck Hams, a resident of Cocoa Market, a suburb of Kadjebi, described the state of the bridge as alarming and emphasized the need for immediate intervention before disaster strikes. He noted that residents and students who used the footbridge to travel to and from the area can no longer do so because of its poor and deteriorating condition.

Mr. Hams appealed to the inhabitants of Kadjebi District, Kadjebi District Assembly, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and benevolent organizations to intervene and provide a steel bridge. Mr. Isaac Abavon, the Assemblyman for the Dubonku Electoral Area, when reached by GNA, stated that the issue has been reported to the Kadjebi District Assembly for intervention.

He mentioned that there would be an electoral meeting on Thursday, July 3, to find a lasting solution to the problem. Mr. Abavon also appealed to the residents of Kadjebi and well-meaning Ghanaians to help provide them with a steel bridge.
