Marigold Foundation Screens Over 800 Residents at Swedru Dwenho

Agona swedru: More than 800 residents, both young and old, in Agona Swedru Dwenho have benefitted from a free health screening organised by the Marigold Foundation to help them assess their health status. The Foundation covered the full cost of prescribed medications for beneficiaries after they were screened by medical doctors and paramedical staff. The screening covered conditions such as high blood pressure, hepatitis B, diabetes, glaucoma, malaria, typhoid, and more.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, CEO of the Marigold Foundation, said the initiative had previously benefitted residents from Agona, Gomoa, Awutu Senya West, and several other districts in the Central Region. 'Our health is our wealth. Without good health, it is impossible to work and earn a living,' Mrs. Assan stated, urging the public to prioritise routine medical check-ups.

Mrs. Assan, also the immediate past Central Regional Minister, noted that many Ghanaians avoid regular hospital visits, often leading to undetected illnesses. She commended Mr. Daniel Kojo Kratiah, Assemblyman for the Dwenho Electoral Area, for his dedication and community service, which inspired the Foundation to hold the screening in his jurisdiction.

Beyond healthcare, the Marigold Foundation also supports education, sanitation, and the provision of mechanised boreholes in several underserved communities in Agona West and beyond. Mrs. Assan called on well-meaning individuals and organisations to support similar initiatives to aid the underprivileged and vulnerable in society. She mentioned that the Rotary Club in Texas, USA, and other Ghana-based sponsors had supported the Foundation's outreach programmes.

Dr. Jocelyn Maame Esi Darkwa, Agona West Municipal Director of Health Services, lauded the Foundation's efforts and appealed for the programme to be expanded to reach more people. She encouraged residents to regularly monitor their health to prevent avoidable illnesses and deaths.

Mr. Daniel Kratiah, the Assemblyman, expressed his appreciation for the gesture and urged traders in the Dwenho market to stop dumping refuse at unauthorised locations. He also reiterated his call for NGOs, banks, and corporate entities to support the Foundation's future outreach programmes to help promote early diagnosis and treatment.
