Accra: The Management of BCM Ghana Limited has called upon the leadership of the police to ensure justice and fairness, aiming to regain a plot of land that belongs to the company. They believe that the police can achieve this by holding their adversaries in the land dispute accountable.According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by BCM Ghana Limited highlighted that it is a limited liability company incorporated under Ghanaian law. The company owns several properties in Ghana, including a parcel of land known as Plot No 50, located at Tema Motorway Industrial Area, covering an area of 4.04 acres. The statement further elaborated that the company initially acquired the parcel of land in 2009 from Crystal City Limited, obtaining a land title certificate. BCM Ghana Limited applied to the Lands Commission to regularize its ownership of the land and received a new lease from the government on March 26, 2024.The company had entered into an agreement with Sofaamy Glass Processing Limited (Sofaamy) to tr ansfer its interest in the parcel of land to Sofaamy. Sofaamy had been in possession of the land until it was allegedly taken over by land guards, reportedly with the assistance of the Ghana Police Service. The statement noted that on November 15, 2024, BCM's attention was drawn to an action by the Ghana Police Service, which took possession of the parcel of land and arrested a worker from Sofaamy. On that day, police officers allegedly scaled the walls of the property and entered in a forceful manner. The police reportedly beat the site supervisor, Isaac Oteng, causing him to sustain a deep gash on his forearms. Following the police action, armed land guards hired by unknown parties allegedly occupied the property, purportedly with the tacit protection of the police service.Additionally, the statement mentioned that prior to the recent incident, the police had similarly arrested security personnel of BCM stationed at the company's property in the Airport Residential Area.
