Accra: President John Dramani Mahama returned to Accra on Saturday night after participating in the historic investiture of President General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema of Gabon at the Libreville Sports Stadium.
According to Ghana News Agency, President Nguema, formerly the head of Gabon’s military junta, took office after overthrowing longtime leader Mr. Ali Bongo nearly two years ago. His inauguration came after a decisive victory in Gabon’s presidential election on April 12th, 2025, where he secured 90.35 percent of the valid votes.
During his two-day visit to Gabon, President Mahama attended a state dinner and engaged in a high-level meeting with President Nguema to discuss cooperation between Ghana and Gabon. This visit aligns with Ghana’s foreign policy focused on fostering good neighborly relations.
President Mahama’s delegation included Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Foreign Minister, Mr. Prosper D. K. Bani, National Security Advisor, Dr. Callistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President, and
Mr. Stan Xoese Dogbe, Deputy Chief of Staff in-charge of Operations.
