Burkina Be Diaspora in Ghana Stages Solidarity March for President Traor© After Foiled Coup Attempt

Accra: The Burkina Be community in Ghana has organized a solidarity march in support of their President, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, following a recent coup attempt thwarted in their homeland.

According to Ghana News Agency, the military government in Burkina Faso disclosed on April 22 that they had intercepted communications hinting at a ‘major plot’ to overthrow Captain Ibrahim Traor©. This discovery involved a high-ranking officer in the Burkinab© military allegedly conspiring with terrorist leaders.

The solidarity march in Ghana saw participation from students, business leaders, and senior diplomats from Burkina Faso residing in the country. It also drew support from key Pan-African movements, the Socialist Movement, and the Rastafari movement in Ghana. Participants carried placards expressing their support for President Traor©.

Romuald Sawadogo, President of the Burkina Faso Community in Ghana, highlighted the community’s concerns about recent attempts by Western powers and their allies to destabilize the leadership in Burkina Faso. Sawadogo emphasized that such actions threaten President Traor©’s efforts towards transformative development in the country.

Sawadogo condemned the interference of Western powers in African affairs, drawing parallels with past African leaders like Kwame Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba, and Thomas Sankara, who faced opposition from Western entities.

David Kabre, Burkina Faso Ambassador to Ghana, assured the diaspora community that their messages of solidarity would be conveyed to President Traor©. He acknowledged the importance of the support from the diaspora in defending the country’s sovereignty against external interests.

The Ambassador reiterated the risk posed to Burkina Faso’s sovereignty by Western powers and praised the community for their unwavering support in the Pan-African struggle.
