Mahama Delivers Closing Campaign Speech, Urges Ghanaians to Vote for Change.

Accra: Former President John Dramani Mahama, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reiterated the need for change and urged Ghanaians to vote for him and his party in the upcoming December 7 election. Delivering his final campaign speech at Zurak Park in Madina, near Accra, Mahama emphasized the urgency of restoring Ghana's economic fortunes.According to Ghana News Agency, Mahama articulated that the upcoming election represents a pivotal moment for the nation, offering a choice between the current state of Ghana and a future filled with opportunity, prosperity, and justice for all. He underscored the importance of creating a Ghana where young people have a voice and can achieve their dreams. Mahama promised the creation of well-paying and sustainable jobs to allow young Ghanaians to support their families and live with dignity.Mahama also focused on the public sector, advocating for recognition based on merit, stability, predictability, and favorable working conditions. He highlig hted the need for a free and fair market that would allow entrepreneurs to flourish. Addressing gender equality, Mahama insisted on true equality and safety for women and girls, aiming to provide them the chance to reach their full potential.He pledged to implement a stable and viable 24-hour economy that would generate millions of jobs. Mahama committed to running the leanest government in Ghana's history with no more than 60 ministers and deputy ministers, aiming to cut wasteful spending and eliminate unnecessary expatriation payments. He vowed to combat corruption aggressively, seeking to recover misappropriated funds for the country's development and benefit of young people.Mahama highlighted his commitment to empowering women, ensuring they are no longer treated as second-class citizens. With Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate and potential Vice-President, he promised to prioritize women's issues. He announced plans to establish a Women's Development Bank to support women-owned a nd women-led businesses with low-interest loans and tailored financial services. This initiative aims to economically empower at least one million Ghanaian women.Mahama's 24-hour economic policy aims to transform Ghana into an import-substitution and export-led economy by encouraging businesses and public organizations to operate continuously in three shifts. This strategy is designed to boost production, enhance productivity, and create well-paying jobs.
