Lordina Mahama to Deliver Keynote Address at UNGA Prayer Service for Children

new york: The First Lady Mrs. Lordina Mahama will take the global stage at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to deliver a keynote address at the Seventh Annual Prayer Service for Children.

According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by World Vision International Ghana announced that the high-level event is scheduled for Monday, 22 September, from 08:00-09:00 ET, at the Church Center for the United Nations, Tillman Chapel, New York.

The Annual Prayer Service, held on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, is organised by World Vision International in collaboration with leading global faith-based and humanitarian organisations. This year's theme, 'A Moment of Hope,' seeks to highlight six dimensions: hope, compassion, resilience, purpose, joy, wisdom, and spiritual life, especially pertinent at a time when the world faces conflict, climate crises, and widening inequalities.

Mrs. Mahama's participation underscores her longstanding dedication to advancing the welfare and empowerment of children both in Ghana and globally. Through her advocacy and philanthropic work, she has championed access to healthcare, education, and social protection for vulnerable children, establishing herself as a respected voice in safeguarding the future of young people.

She will join a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Reverend Andrew J. Morley, President and CEO of World Vision International, and Mrs. Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme.

The Prayer Service aims to bring together world leaders, global partners, and faith leaders from various traditions to unite in prayer and reflection, urging world leaders to prioritise action that improves the lives of children most at risk.

The event will be livestreamed on YouTube, allowing for global participation.
