Accra: The Ghana Para-Powerlifting Association (GPPLA) has successfully staged its national talent hunt program, the 'LiftBeyondLimits' tournament. The one-day competition, held at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, aimed to scout and develop new talent from across the country for the GPPLA national team's upcoming national and international contests.
According to Ghana News Agency, the event brought together more than 35 individuals with impairments or disabilities from Ghana's Central Region. The coaching staff, including Head Coach Prince Nyarko, George Ohene-Adu, and National Paralympian Tahiru Haruna, played a significant role in the day's proceedings, providing guidance and support to the participants.
By the end of the day, 12 participants were selected for additional training and development. Mr. Majeed Eldeen, President of GPPLA, expressed that the talent scouting effort was designed to offer athletes a competitive platform. He also noted that the exercise would aid in building an accurate national database for para powerlifting participants.
