‘Let’s see our individual differences as a source of strength’ -Dr Bawumia

Vice President Dr Mohammadu Bawumia has called on Ghanaians to embrace the values of peace, tolerance, and respect one another before, during and after the December election.He the urgent need to reject violence and divisive rhetoric and instead, engage in constructive dialogue as individual or group differences served as a source of strength.Speaking at the 60th-anniversary celebration of Oguaa Fetu Afahye, Dr Bawumia said: 'Elections are a cornerstone of our democracy, a time when we exercise our right to choose our leaders and shape the future of our nation.'It is a privilege that should never be taken for granted.'The Oguaa Fetu Afahye celebration coincided with the 25th anniversary of the enstoolment of Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, Omanhen of Oguaa Traditional Area.The culture-packed celebration graced by eminent personalities including Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene who was the guest of honour.The celebration was on the theme: 'Celebrating the City of Firsts; Our People, Our Future.'Dr Bawumia urged Ghanaians not to sit on the political fringes but engage actively in the electoral process as elections were not just about selecting leaders, but also choosing the right direction for the country for the betterment of all.He said: 'It is your opportunity to advocate the issues that matter to your education, employment, healthcare and the environment.'Do not allow others to decide your future for you. It is in your hands to take charge of it,' Dr Bawumia noted.On the Afahye, Dr Bawumia called for renewed commitment by all for accelerated cultural promotion.'May this festival inspire us to cherish our heritage and to work together for a prosperous Ghana,' and commended the Oguaa Traditional Council for maintaining its cultural heritage.'Let me also take this singular opportunity to say 'well done' to the youth of Cape Coast and indeed the Central Region.'I am happy to hear that the communal spirit in the youth of Cape Coast has rekindled and I assure you of the government's support in this commitment,' the Vice President said.Osabarimba Kwesi Atta pledged to work diligently with all development agents for the good of society.Source: Ghana News Agency
