Leave with Implementable Programmes After Retreat – Sports Minister to Federation Heads

Koforidua: Mr Kofi Iddie Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation, has urged Federation Heads to come up with implementable programmes that will develop sports after their two-day retreat in Koforidua. He said the vision and talk were enough and that it was time for federations to come up with something new to promote and develop sports.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Minister made this comment when he officially opened a two-day retreat for National Federation Heads in Koforidua organised by the Ghana Olympic Committee. He emphasized that the growth of sports in the country will depend on actionable plans rather than mere discussions, stating, 'Our sports will see growth from such gatherings like this, but this must not be one of the talk shops and must certainly go beyond visions.'

He urged the leaders to engage in frank and meaningful discussions that will project Ghana sports to its past glory. The Minister highlighted the importance of showcasing the positive aspects of sports to attract the necessary support from corporate entities in Ghana. 'You know the benefits of sports that is why you chose to serve; therefore, let us project the positive side of our sports to attract the needed support from corporate Ghana,' he added.

Commending the Executive Board of the Ghana Olympic Committee for organising the retreat, Mr Adams encouraged them to continue supporting the federations, acknowledging their role as the umbrella body. He also called for collaborations between the Ministry, the National Sports Authority (NSA), the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), and the various federations to ensure the growth of Ghana Sports.
