LaDMA Launches 12-Year Development Plan Aiming for Job Creation

Accra: The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) has unveiled its ambitious 12-year Development Plan, which targets job creation, urban renewal, and improved service delivery within the municipality. This new initiative sets a strategic course for inclusive development over the next decade.

According to Ghana News Agency, the plan is supported by a comprehensive implementation framework featuring clear performance indicators, risk mitigation strategies, funding models, legal compliance measures, and a commitment to stakeholder engagement and transparency. Municipal Chief Executive Officer Mr. Alfredos Nii Anyetei emphasized the goal of creating over 5,000 decent jobs, enhancing infrastructure, and expanding essential services. The plan also aims to digitize 70% of service delivery, fostering a modern and accountable governance system.

The launch event, themed 'Shaping Our Destiny: A Roadmap for Transformation and Prosperity,' also introduced LaDMA's new brand identity and a special book detailing the municipality's journey. Mr. Anyetei praised the contributions of past leaders and stakeholders, highlighting the plan as a product of extensive consultation and data-driven planning involving all sectors of the municipality.

The plan places the community at its core, addressing the needs of children for better education, families for quality healthcare, and entrepreneurs for access to capital and markets. It reflects a collective vision shaped by diverse voices, including traditional authorities, youth, technocrats, and development partners.

Mr. Anyetei outlined commitments to upgrading educational infrastructure, expanding healthcare access, and supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to drive innovation and job creation. Addressing residents' concerns over flooding, waste management, and climate change, the plan prioritizes sustainable drainage systems and environmental resilience.

He urged the Implementation Committee to explore strategies for successful execution, noting that the plan allows for flexibility and adaptation to changing dynamics and national goals. Mr. Anyetei also emphasized alignment with President John Dramani Mahama's Reset Agenda, ensuring municipal efforts align with national aspirations.

Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Madam Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, commended the plan as a testament to the municipality's resolve to build a resilient and inclusive urban future. She highlighted the challenges faced by cities and municipalities, such as uncoordinated development and inadequate infrastructure, urging other assemblies to follow LaDMA's example in aligning long-term visioning with participatory planning.

The Ministry pledged full support for the long-term planning agenda, offering policy direction, technical support, and institutional guidance to ensure successful implementation.
