Krachi east: The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for Krachi East Municipal Office, in collaboration with the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and the European Union, has organized an anti-corruption sensitization programme for youth groups in the Municipality. The programme, dubbed 'Strengthening the Rule of Law and the Fight Against Corruption in Ghana,' aimed to educate the youth on the dangers of corruption and its various forms.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ezekiel Awidi, the Oti Regional NCCE programmes officer, addressed participants on the Public Order Act, urging them to exercise their rights to demonstrate within the law. He emphasized balancing freedoms with civic responsibility to ensure peace and security in their communities and called on the youth to act as ambassadors of change by reporting corruption wherever it occurs.
Mr. Bright Gyan, an investigator of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), encouraged the youth to become agents of change by speaking out against corrupt practices and reporting cases for investigation and accountability. Mr. Robert Boame, the Oti Regional Director of NCCE, educated participants on the causes and effects of corruption, the role of citizens in promoting good governance, and strategies for reporting and preventing corrupt practices. He urged the youth to actively promote transparency and accountability in their communities.
Madam Dorcas Abena, a participant at the NCCE anti-corruption sensitization programme in Krachi East Municipality, expressed gratitude to the organizers for educating them on the dangers of corruption. She thanked the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), European Union, and NCCE for empowering them with knowledge to identify and combat corrupt practices. Madam Abena noted that the education enhanced her understanding of attitudes leading to corruption, equipping her to make informed decisions and contribute to the fight against corruption in her community.
The NCCE's initiative has empowered the youth to become agents of change in their communities, promoting transparency and accountability.
