KNMA Distributes 5,000-Litre Polytanks to 14 Communities to Address Water Scarcity

Ketu north: The Ketu North Municipal Assembly (KNMA), acting on a formal request by Mr. Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament for Ketu North, has procured and begun distributing 5,000-litre capacity polytanks to 14 communities to help address water scarcity.

According to Ghana News Agency, the beneficiary communities include Torvie, Sovie-Sakokorpe, Ehi-Biasenh, Avalavi-Gagodope, Atiteti-Adevukorpe, Agordeke-Agbematorkorpe, Gbegbekorpe, Afornyaga-Adevukorpe, Ehi-Ahufeto, Wuti, Kasu (Keme Korpe), Tadzi-Ahiagbakorpe, Adrume Township, and Agbevekope.

Distribution commenced on September 7, following the successful procurement of the tanks. The intervention was fully funded by the Assembly. Mr. Agbana, who facilitated the request, stated that the initiative formed part of efforts to ensure no community in Ketu North was left behind in accessing potable water.

Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Martin Amenakpor, emphasized government's commitment to such interventions, noting the importance of safeguarding public health and improving the well-being of residents. He highlighted the continued collaboration between the Assembly, the MP, and stakeholders to address water challenges.

At Agbevekope, one of the first communities to benefit, residents expressed joy and gratitude. Officials mentioned that the polytanks are managed directly by KNMA to ensure transparency and equitable distribution.

The provision of these storage facilities is viewed as a significant step toward addressing perennial water shortages in the municipality and improving the quality of life for residents.
