It was a five-star performance from the 'General', as he is popularly referred to, as industry stakeholders converged to celebrate his Artiste of the Year win at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

According to Ghana News Agency, King Promise did not only wow audiences but also received the four award plaques, including Artiste of the Year, Album/EP of the Year, Best Afropop Song and Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste of the Year. During a brief but emotional address on stage, King Promise, who has a Business Administration degree from Central University, stated that his career in music was driven by passion rather than money.

'It is very fulfilling to see people dance to my music; it is not just for money because when I started making music, I was not making a dollar or cedi. I was just a boy in school with a passion for music,' said the 'Terminator' hitmaker. He also thanked his parents for their unwavering support throughout his musical career, as well as his Legacy Life team.

'Honestly, when I was announced the winner, I was stacked in my chair for five seconds, trying to embrace the moment and praying to my God,' he said. When asked about his plans for the future, King Promise said he is vigorously working hard and his ambitions are higher this time round, especially as he eyes international appeal.

The night witnessed some impressive performances from urban gospel musician Perez Musik and music duo Lila and Lola. Vocalist Titi Owusu thrilled audiences with her exceptional vocal prowess to make the night a memorable one for all patrons.

The night also witnessed a special Titan Award given to Mr Nanabayin Dadson, former Arts/Culture Editor of Graphic Communications Group, for his massive contribution to Ghanaian culture journalism and the growth of arts.
