Keta Business College Launches ‘?leti Club’ to Guide Students

Keta: The Keta Business College (KetaBusco) in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region has launched the '?leti Club' to educate, encourage, and guide students on various lifestyles.

According to Ghana News Agency, the ?leti Club, which originated from Caring Sisters' Vocational School at Tegbi in the Anloga district, aims to equip young students with the skills to make the best choices in life. Madam Sese Gadzekpo, the Founder and President of the Club, stated that the club also focuses on educating female students about sexual and reproductive health.

'The group was formed in 2024, and the name '?leti' means star. We want to make stars out of our future leaders, and our aim is to reach about 20 schools within the Anloland to educate students to live better lives that would benefit them in the future,' she said.

The club has received support from Stanbic Bank, First Atlantic Bank, individuals, philanthropists, and groups of institutions, which has enabled students and facilitators to meet every Wednesday for studies. Madam Matilda Dzotepe, the Headmistress of KetaBusco, mentioned that the club is expected to instill positive behaviors in students, helping to change the narrative from past experiences at the school.

'This is a good initiative. It will help remold students and educate them on premature sex and drug abuse. Currently, some female students are pregnant while male ones have been engaging in drugs among other issues,' Dzotepe noted. She expressed concern about the high indiscipline among students and hoped the club's impact would change behaviors for the better. She warned that students responsible for any misconduct would face the full rigors of the school authorities.

Madam Dzotepe also appealed to parents to support their children in joining the club, emphasizing that 'charity begins at home.' She urged parents not to hesitate in educating female children on sexual and reproductive health.

Mr. Daniel Billy Adorkortsey, the Patron of the program, explained that adolescent reproductive health is paramount to the club, and all members understood the concepts and principles. Some students and teachers expressed gratitude to Madam Gadzekpo and the team for launching the club at KetaBusco and promised to adhere to the teachings for their own benefits.

Ghana News Agency learned that over 400 students from schools such as Keta Senior, Akatsi Senior High, and Ketabusco have joined the social educative club initiated by Caring Sisters' of the Anlo Traditional area.
