KADJEBI: Two young apprentices, Miss Rahiya Mumuni and Mr. Sulemana Ibrahim, were tragically killed in a road accident involving a Toyota Hilux Pickup while traveling on a motorbike to their hometown of Menuso. The accident, which has left the communities of Menuso and Okanta in deep sorrow, occurred on Wednesday evening at Okanta, a farming community between Kadjebi and Menuso.According to Ghana News Agency, the vehicle involved was allegedly driven by the Menuso Sector Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service. The car, traveling from Menuso to Kadjebi, was set ablaze by aggrieved youth in the Okanta community where the incident took place. The accident occurred around 1900 hours, and the aftermath has plunged the local communities into mourning.Mr. Alidu Mumuni, Rahiya's father, recounted being informed of his daughter's involvement in the accident and rushing to the scene. Despite noticing some signs of life, his daughter succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital. The Kadjebi District Police Commander, Superintendent Frank Nana Asomaning, confirmed the incident and described it as a brutal accident. He noted that police efforts to prevent the angry youth from burning the vehicle were unsuccessful.The vehicle was found burnt beyond recognition when the Ghana News Agency visited the site early Thursday morning. The bodies of the deceased have been returned to their families for burial in accordance with Islamic customs, with preparations underway when reporters visited their homes. The tragedy has left the community grappling with the loss of two young lives.
