Jubilee Launch Highlights Infrastructure Deficits, Huni Valley Old Students Pledge Support

Huni valley: The launch of the Jubilee celebrations of the Huni Valley Senior High School (SHS) has shed light on critical infrastructure challenges facing the institution.

According to Ghana News Agency, the school's Old Students Association (HOSA) has pledged to lead efforts in addressing the needed infrastructure issues. Mr. Daniel Aidoo, the Headmaster of the School, highlighted a significant accommodation crisis, particularly for girls, with the 1,205 female students placing pressure on the current infrastructure. He emphasized the urgent need for constructing a new girls' dormitory and additional classroom furniture to support the school's transition to the single-track programme, requiring accommodation for up to 2,100 students.

Mr. Aidoo also pointed out the school's outdated kitchen facilities, where staff were still using firewood for cooking. He called for an intervention to address this issue. Mr. Kofi Arhin, President of HOSA, stated that the old students had outlined the pressing needs and the plans to tackle the infrastructure challenges. He affirmed the Association's commitment to supporting the school.

Mr. Arhin detailed several projects already undertaken by the Association, including constructing the school's main gate, providing water storage tanks, and establishing an infirmary with beds and medication. He identified constructing a fence wall as a top priority to combat encroachment on school land and confirmed that a modern kitchen was also high on their list of priorities. He appealed to alumni, corporations, and partners to contribute financially towards these projects.

The Jubilee celebrations, scheduled from November 24 to 30, 2025, will feature activities including cleaning exercises, games, and counseling sessions to inspire students. The focus on infrastructure and the proactive stance of the Old Students Association has become a central theme for the week-long celebration.
