Accra: Mr. John Kofi Ansah has been elected the new chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) for the next four years. In a keenly contested race, Mr. Ansah secured 96 votes out of the 131 valid votes cast, while his opponent, Isaac Wilberforce Koomson, garnered 35 votes.
According to Ghana News Agency, the election also saw Madam Phyllis Marku Moncar winning the vice-chairman position with 94 votes. Her closest competitor, Nana Amankwaa Kwakye, received 39 votes. With this victory, Madam Marku becomes the first woman to assume the vice-chairman position of GHALCA, the primary organization representing all clubs in the country.
For the men's Premier League representative spot, Fred Tidan from Bibiani Gold Stars emerged victorious. He beat Joseph Nkoo of Asante Kotoko and Abdul Rahman Yakubu from Vision FC.
Unopposed candidates for this year's election included incumbent treasurer Patrick Martey Boye, Eric Opoku representing the Division One League, and Gabriel Godwin Kwao representing regional clubs.
